The Team

Gary Hector, Co-Founder and Managing Director

Gary has been the driving force behind the design of SchoolsBuddy and the middleman between Paul speaking in ‘code’ and David speaking in English! Gary’s eye for useful functionality and attention to detail have been instrumental in making a product that we are very proud of and that we also believe will be extremely useful to the education community.

Post launch, Gary’s main roles are the day to day operations of the business, including both technical and marketing pre-sales activities together with overseeing installations, and post sales support.

Gary is a keen Brighton fan and club golfer playing off a very respectable 4 handicap.

David Higginson, Co-Founder and Sales Director

David’s passion for SubsBuddy has been translated into the SchoolsBuddy project as has his knowledge of schools both from his own experiences as pupils and as a coach and from the extensive consultation with respected teachers and school organisations.

David’s main role within SchoolsBuddy is building relationships with schools including visits and product demonstrations.

A keen Aston Villa and Somerset CCC fan, David also still plays for and captains his local cricket team.

Richard Willacy, Financial Expert

Richard was Chief Financial Officer for Cory Environmental, one of the UK’s leading recycling, waste management and energy recovery companies. Richard had been heavily involved with the following important milestones in Cory’s history:

•In 2002 – the securing of a £700 million / 30 year contract
•In 2007 – the sale of Cory to ABN Amro / Finpro SGPS and Santander Private Equity

Richard left Cory in 2007 and now advises on several small and developing business. Richard is an active investor into SubsBuddy and has recently agreed to become a Non-Exec Director.

Paul Ledger, Lead Coder

‘The Ledge’ is a very clever man who has been involved with the project right from the start. A real master of all trades in coding languages and platforms, it’s fair to say that without Paul’s brains and versatility that not only would SchoolsBuddy not be the product that it is today but also that it may not exist at all.

Paul’s role within SchoolsBuddy is the ongoing development of the product and the delivery of Android over the coming months.

Paul says he doesn’t have time for hobbies but is known to enjoy a game of badminton and relaxing with his family.
